In these days we hear that larger groups of young people are starting a new
sport,"parkour" whose popularity is rapidly increasing in Italy Today we’re
meeting a teacher to ask him some questions about it .
I thank Evan for being here with us.
Evan, I’d like to ask you to explain our readers what is parkour and where was
it born? EVAN: This discipline was created in France in the early 80's. parkour is
an art –movement in which people make their way in a straight line without being
stopped by any of the obstacles met.
That is, it is a kind of “urban gymnastics” as a way of getting around walls,
steps and street furniture.
What are the ideal places to practice this sport? EVAN: Ideal places are everywhere because parkour is born on the roads.
What are the advantages for those who practice parkour? EVAN: Parkour is not a competitive discipline except against themselves.
Everyone has a way to practice it and each person creates their own path to run
along. The real upside is the possibility to confront oneself with their own
limitations and weak points..
Almost all sports have age and weight limits, what about parkour ? EVAN: Parkour has not age limit but it is easier to teach older kids only
for a matter of safety .
Is it a tricky sport to teach? EVAN: I find it more difficult having to do with boys aged 10 to 18 years,
to make them understand they don’t have to act carelessly or must not play
boastful in front of other people because it can be dangerous.
Is it important the weight and height? EVAN: I would say no because there are also people who come from boxing
and weigh up to 100 kg and jump like mad.
Parkour is often confused with freerunning, can you explain what is the
difference between them? EVAN: these two sports look similar but the philosophy behind them is
substantially different. Parkour suggests a situation of danger or flight during
which each movement must be essential to achieving the objective. Freerunning is
a discipline where every movement aims at aesthetics and performance, combining
movements from Parkour with athletic and aerobic movements.
Evan I thank you greatly for your time. Tothe next! EVAN: Thanks to you!

London
Dulwich College was founded by Edward Alleyn on June 21st 1619,with letters patent from king James I. Alleyn was an actor and entrepreneur in the world of Elizabethan and Jacobean entertainment, a colourful and famous figure of his day. Alleyn first thought of founding a hospital but next proposed to commemorate himself by a foundation to be called "Alleyn's college of god's gift". This foundation was intended to have two goals, one charitable and the other educational.Twelve poor scholars, aged between six and eighteen, were to be educated by resident Fellows. The foundation was not formally constituted until June 21st 1619 when James I signed letters patent.
Former pupils of Dulwich College, have subsequently become famous and important musicians, journalists, politicians, BBC correspondents, TV reporters, television producers, intellectuals, writers, film critics, businessmen and former Lord Mayors of London, members of Parliament, doctors.
As to the type of curriculum, the Dulwich College is based on sport, in fact many former students have become famous sportsmen.
We arrived at the college on 17th october and we stayed until 23rd october. We were given an introductory test to form three different class groups. our day was divided in two parts: we would study english for three hours and we visited the city of london during the rest of the time. During the lessons the teachers (we had three different ones) made us speak a lot.
The lesson was an hour and half long, we had half an hour break and then the teacher would swap for the rest of the lesson. During our visits to London we saw: the Houses of Parliament, Westminster abbey, the British museum, Camden town, Piccadilly circus,Covent Garden, Madame Tussaud's, St.James's Park.
In our opnion, English people are very precise and very respectful of rules.
This is the reason why they appear to us as higly evoluted people.
This aspect of their social life, looks as the most inpressive difference between English and Italians, who are certainly less respectful and commonsensical, but also more “human” and open-hearted.

The whiter the skin the more attractive you are?
Something singular is happening in India due to the "Snow White" syndrome, the market of whitening creams is outstripping those of coca-cola and tea. Infact in India the appeal of fair-complexion is higher than if you consider that India has the world's second most lucrative marriage industry you'll have the idea of how the market has increased. The phenomenon seems to be caused by mass-media influence that push people to spend their money on whitening creams. So the director of the Calcutta-based "Emami group", whose Fair and Handsome brand for men was the first of its kind in the market, says that everyone in India wants to look fair! Experts claim that the demand has boomed due to the tendency, spreading in rural India, to discrimate against people's skin color. Most doctors discourage the use of these products due to the side effects caused by steroids contained in them and yet lab-made tests present creams as "health-safe" products, so people seem to be still attracted by them. Will the world whitout discrimination better or worst in your opinion?
